THESE STOOLS WERE DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR BATA, A FRENCH SHOE COMPANY, IN 1977. ROGER TALLON, KNOWN FOR HIS GROUNDBREAKING WORK IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN, BROUGHT HIS UNIQUE VISION TO THIS COMMISSION. THE STOOLS’ SLEEK, FOLDED METAL DESIGN REFLECTS A MINIMALIST YET DYNAMIC APPROACH, PERFECTLY SUITED TO THE MODERN AND FUNCTIONAL AESTHETIC OF BATA’S RETAIL SPACES.
TALLON’S USE OF CURVED, CONTINUOUS METAL NOT ONLY ALIGNS WITH HIS SIGNATURE STYLE BUT ALSO COMPLEMENTS THE IDEA OF FOOTWEAR; ITEMS THAT, LIKE THESE STOOLS, NEED TO BE BOTH FUNCTIONAL AND STYLISH. THE STOOLS’ FORM SEEMS TO EVOKE MOVEMENT, ALMOST AS IF THEY ARE READY TO WALK THEMSELVES. THEIR STARK, REFLECTIVE SURFACE GIVES THEM A FUTURISTIC AND BOLD APPEARANCE, ALIGNING WITH BATA’S INNOVATIVE SPIRIT DURING THAT ERA. ABOUT THE DESIGNER
